We aim to give you the experience of meditation rather than just theory. Each class introduces simple and effective exercises to still the mind, including breathing techniques, mantras, creative visualisations, concentration and meditation techniques. We discuss the four pillars of yoga and guidelines on finding your own spiritual path.
Since 1983, the Sri Chinmoy Centre has been sharing the gift of meditation with thousands of people through our free meditation classes, workshops and other events.

OPTION A
Three Kings
This series of free courses offer the methods, knowledge and inspiration you’ll need to explore the many paths of meditation.
When: Tuesdays / Thursdays, February 11, 13, 18: 7:30pm – 9pm nightly
Venue: The Fickling Centre, 546 Mt Albert Road, Three Kings.
Entry is through the side door just around the corner in Tawari Street.
Registration: Free admission, but registration is required to accommodate numbers.

OPTION B
MEDITATION – THE WAY UP
A four evening introduction to meditation.
This is suited for those wanting a fast track immersion in meditation, with a focus on how to set up and maintain a daily home practice program and providing ongoing free weekly sessions to support this.
This course is offered by long time meditation practitioner Jogyata Dallas, a fitness enthusiast and author whose several published books recount memories from his many visits to New York and his insights and experiences with Sri Chinmoy.
Jogyata offers a structured 4 part course covering the ABC’s, then introduces many lifestyle positives supporting meditation; the different key branches of yoga; mantras and spiritual chants; then shares what he describes as ‘the seven secrets of meditation’. His evenings are welcoming and encouraging, inviting participation and questions and featuring several guided meditation techniques each evening.
No new admissions after the second evening please, as this is a structured, progressive course. Plentiful local street parking.
When: consecutive Mondays/Thursdays.
February 24, 27; March 3, 6. 6:00pm – 7:30pm nightly.
Venue: the Sri Chinmoy Centre, 89 Dominion Rd, Mt Eden, on the corner with Tawari Street.

Jogyata Dallas
Jogyata has taught meditation for over 30 years and is the author of several books about the subject and his encounters and experiences with Sri Chinmoy. He lives in Auckland but teaches in many other countries. His workshops combine humor, personal anecdotes and guided meditations and reflect his sincere love of his subject.

Preetidutta Thorpe
Preetidutta has been a national level sailor and still loves the ocean as a place for meditation and happiness. She’s an adventurer, marathoner, trail runner and longtime meditator, and a member of a relay team that carries a peace torch around New Zealand and the Pacific islands every year to promote world peace. She runs free introductory courses in Auckland every year.
Hridayinee Williams
Hridayinee has studied and practised meditation for many years and shared her love of meditation in workshops offered throughout several countries.
She brings mantras and music to her courses and belongs to several Auckland a capella performing music groups. “Emptying the mind and finding stillness is difficult for most people – music fills the mind, displaces thought and replaces it with beauty…”
Muslim Badami
Muslim has been a member of the Sri Chinmoy Centre since 2003. A keen marathoner and occasional actor he lives and works in Auckland after moving here from India. He teaches evening workshops in introductory meditation throughout the year.
